Viennae (Vienna): Antonii Schmid. Good with no dust jacket. 1820. Hardcover. Xvi + 196 + xxvi + corrigenda. 3 folding charts. In Latin. Oberleitner's updated Latin version of Jahn's seminal work on Aramaic in Chaldean-Syriac. Jahn was a prominent Orientalist and Biblical Scholar at the University of Vienna. Small octavo. 3/4 leather with contemporary marbled boards, rubbed at all edges, front board detached, spine tips dry and fraying, old spine label, spine gilt fairly bright and still legible. Old library stamp on title page and contemporary inscription, bright yellow endpapers. Paper is sturdy but somewhat foxed. Page 11 has a 2" tear at the gutter top, not affecting text. Page 39/40 has a 4" x 1" lack at the fore-edge, not affecting text but the lack does go right up to the text border. Otherwise some dog-earing and small stains, but no writing or other marks. A chance to own a remarkable piece of Biblical scholarship at a low price. ; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall; 196 pages .
