This is the 1851 ed., subtitle : Revised and Adapted to the Course of mathematical Instruction in the United States; 370 p., plus a 15 p. "Table of Logarithms from 1 to 10,000" and a 45 p. "Table of Logarithmic Sines and Tangents for every Degree and Minute of the Quadrant." There are penciled markings on front paste down, the front end page has been torn away, and the former owner's name is written in pencil on the t.p. There are a few penciled notations in the margins of the appendices and back end page, Inserts are two fern fronds. Many diagrams accompany text. Paper is strong and only mildly age-toned though foxed. Text block is firm, but the front gutter is cracked and front board nearly detached. The thick yellow leather boards are bumped and scuffed and abraded along spine. The gilt lettering on black patch on spine is partially effaced. This volume deserves rebinding.
