Slight dustiness of the top edge of the text block, otherwise the book itself is free of any damage or annotation. This book was written in the bicentenary of the birth of one of the most influential and enigmatic women in English history, Elizabeth Fry, mother of 11 children and a Quaker minister who drew the world's attention to the plight of women in prison, instituted an order of nursing sisters, and became the figurehead of much of the philanthropic endeavour in the 1st half of the 19th century.
