Red spine with black lettering. Black mark on bottom of text block and 'Phaidon non mint copy' stamped on half title page. Slight rubbing to covers. NEW book, pages are clean and tight. Lavishly illustrated with color and b/w illustrations, many of them full page sized. During the age that brought the great flowering of the English language in the work of Shakespeare, Jonson, and the King James version of the Bible there also emerged a truly English style of architecture and decoration that has had a romantic appeal ever since.
