London: Printed by J. Nutt, and sold by E. Nutt at the MiddleTemple Gate in Fleet-Street. In the Savoy, 1715. Leather. Good/No Jacket. no date, circa 1715 based on ESTC records. Full calf leather. A4, 1-375 (1) pp. Black and white illustrations throughout. An emblem book by the English poet Francis Quarles, containing work paraphrased from the Scriptures accompanied by sometimes grotesque illustrations. Originally published in 1634, this work was popular with the public, despite poor critical reviews. GOOD+condition. Heavy chipping to the leather along the spine, with loss at the head and tail. Leather split along the entire front hinge. Leather scuffed and bumped along the extremities. Bookplate on the inside front cover. Pencil drawings of people on the first and last blank endpapers. Small wormhole to the last page and inside rear cover. ESTC T186288.
