About This Item

Kent State Kent State Univ. Press . Very Good/No DJ. 1968. First Edition. Hard Cover. 8vo Red cloth with bright gilt titling on spine. No ownership inscription. . xxx, 145 pages clean and tight. From Preface: "The present volume undertakes to provide students, teachers, and scholars with a bibliography which will be useful as a guide to research into the life and writings of Emily Dickinson. Previous bibliographies, those compiled by The Jones Library, Inc. and by Alfred Leete Hampson, were incomplete and eccentric even when they were published in 1930; today they are clearly obsolete. Consequently, this new bibliography aims to be a complete catalogue of: (1) editions of Emily Dickinson's writings, (2) first or early printings of her poems, (3) books, chapters in books, and parts of chapters, (4) bibliographies and bibliographical discussions, (5) unpublished doctoral dissertations and important M.A. and undergraduate theses, (6) essays and parts of essays published in periodicals, both scholarly and popular, (7) review articles, operationally defined as reviews extending to three or more pages. Though completeness is claimed only for items from the United States, England, and Canada, numerous foreign publications are included. And though the scope of the bibliography is nominally from 1850 to 1966, many 1967 contributions are included." .
