Red cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and publisher logo stamped to the front boards. B/W text illustrations. B/W plates in rear. Fair ex-library set. Age-toned with a few, small dampstains to the text block edges. Moderate to heavy shelf wear. Most hinges cracked, those in Volume 7 and 11 are broken. Volume 3 has been rebound in red cloth and is missing pages 659-680. They have been replaced by photocopies which are bound in. The index has been taped repaired at the hinges and spine head. Library markings include ink stamps to the endpapers, copyright pages, a couple of exterior edges with the usual library notation to the prelims. Penciled notes in a couple of volumes.
