About This Item
12mo, vellum spine and marbled boards, 601 pp. Some wear to binding extremities, spine hinges cracked a bit in places, but still firm, crude tape repairs to first leaf after title, unevenly trimmed and a bit close, but not affecting text, normal aging and foxing; otherwise very good. Scarce Italian edition of Virgil. The OCLC locates only four copies of this edition. Virgil (70-19BC) was considered one of the most influential poets of ancient Rome. His Aeneid, an epic poem, is his most important work, which he wrote in his last ten years. The work consists of 12 books about the journey of Aeneas from Troy to Italy. online-literature website.
