About This Item
London: Batsford, 1987. First published in 1954, this is a reprint from 1987. Hardback. [i - iv], v - vii, 1 - 424pp. Dust jacket in a protective sleeve.. The books illustrated by coloured plates and published in England between 1790 and 1860 are some of the most beautiful of their kind. The late R. V. Tooley has made a comprehensive collation of all these books, excluding those on Botany and Ornithology. Famous works, such as Ackerman's "Repository", Boydell's "Thames" and Pyne's "Royal Residencies" are fully described and particular notice is taken of the points and variations in different issues. To anyone interested in the books described, this is still a valuable bibliographical resource. Book in near fine condition. Dust jacket very good. Price clipped and a new publisher's price sticker applied to front flap A heavy book but no additional shipping costs to UK post codes. If buying from overseas, please ask for a firm shipping quote.
