Hardcover. 8vo, 23cm, first edition, (xv)344p., frontis portrait and 34 illustrations , index, original red cloth, some slight damp stains on the fore edge of the bottom cover otherwise a very good copy (internally fine) (tr). ~ Travels in post WWI Turkey, following the Treaty of Sevres (1920) and the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. Anti British feelings were strong particularly following the assignment of Smyrna to Greece by the terms of the Treaty. "I am advised, for greater safety, to travel as an American! God forbid! I stand by the old flag.
