Collects Washington's letters to various officials and dignitaries, including British admirals Arbuthnot and Digby, Henry Clinton, Lord Cornwallis, Sir Guy Carleton, the Marquis de Lafayette, Alexander Hamilton, Major General John Sullivan, and others, and also "including many applications and addresses presented to him with his answers; Orders and Instructions, on important occasions, to his Aids de Camp, &c." Covers the period 1779 to 1783. Howes W-133 (noting that the first seven letters are Tory forgeries); Sabin 101742.
