About This Item
Wien: Philobiblon, 1933. First edition. Hardcover. Very good copy. Three issues of \"Philobiblon\" bound up in buckram. Illustrated in black and red. Text in German. \"Philobiblon, Eine Zeitschrift für Büchliebhaber\" [Philobiblion, A Journal for Bibliophiles] was published by Herbert Reichner in Vienna. These three issues of the magazine concern the great early printer, Erhard Ratdolt, who began in Venice in 1476. In 1482 and working with his partners, Maler and Löslein, he printed the first edition of Euclid\'s Elements, among many other notable works. After about ten years he returned to his home in Augsburg, Germany, where he continued printing, although now specializing in theological books.
