Printed for William Andrews Clark, Jr., By John Henry Nash, 1928. First Thus. Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket (As Issued). One of 250 numbered sets, printed for private distribution; this being #50. A 2 volume set; folio and a 8vo. - over 7 ¾ in. - 9 ¾ in. Bound uniformly in quarter white vellum over gray boards, with gilt stamped titles and decorations on spines, plain endpapers, top edges gilt., and remaining edges untrimmed. Fine-bound and fine-print issue of that most famous Augustan Age product, a critical essay in rhymed couplets; with the facsimile of its original print issue (dated 1711; from John Drinkwater's own copy). Introductory remarks by William Andrews Clark, Jr.; bibliographical references and biographical chronology of Pope (in main volume). In the publisher's original heavy stock slipcase. The books are Near Fine with minor wear and slight foxing; the slipcase has some moderate cracking and light soiling chiefly to the edges.
