Ridgewood NY: Press of the Alwil Shop, 1902. 1st Edition Thus. Hardcover. Good. Scarce publication printed in the Arts&Crafts studio located in the Palisades NY of the Anwil Shop (per colophon). Cream paper over boards (toned and rubbed), gilt title front, green cloth spine, unpaginated (some leaves uncut), every page decorated in vivid green and red Arts&Crafts surround. Unknown number of copies. With the bookplate on pastedown of Elisha Whipple McGuire (1854-1940), educator, lawyer and bibliophile, whose book collection was sold in auction in 1931, mostly early Americana. Bookplate designed by R. Sneider, Jr., NY. Some edgewear, sound binding, some incidental spotting internally but overall internals quite nice. OCLC lists only one copy at one library, Rutgers in New Jesey.
