The book pictured (4) is the copy being sold. Very good, but note the white paint stain at the crease of the spine and front board; the maroon boards w/gold gilt on top edge, lettering; there is a remainder mark on the bottom edge; an owner's inscription on the inside cover; the title page has a tear from the front flyleaf. This is probably an 1890 first edition based on pictures of this book listed with other dealers. The binding is tight. 396 pages plus another sheet listing other titles in the American Classics Series.
