FIRST EDITION 1844. 8vo, approximately 225 x 140 mm, 8½ x 5½ inches, pages: viii, half-title, title page, Preface, Contents, [1]-164 plus 4 pages of adverts, original boards, rebacked to style in thick paper with printed paper label. Boards rubbed with uneven pale staining, slight wear to corners, shelf wear to lower edges, neat ink numbers to verso title page, stain to top of first free endpaper with small repair to top corner and a tiny hole, faint evidence of a removed label at bottom of first free endpaper, pale foxing to pastedowns and endpapers, first inner paper hinge neatly strengthened, hardly noticeable, tip of several corners have small turning crease, otherwise a very good copy.
