This copy is numbered "2". 7 preliminary leaves, 512 pages, 1 leaf ; 25 cm. Rebound in early twentieth century green cloth. Johns Hopkins Library stamps and markings. <br> Basil Lanneau Gildersleeve (1831-1924) was an American classical scholar. He served in the Confederate Army in the Civil War. Gildersleeve taught at the University of Virginia and John Hopkins University. Gildersleeve has received attention recently for his views on slavery and Jews. *Autographed by author.*
