New York: John Wiley & Son, 1866.. 1866.. Good. - Octavo, brown cloth decorated in gilt on the spine with the title set wihin an elaborately decorated gilt circle on the front cover. Top edge gilt. The head of the spine is chipped & there is slight wear to the tail of the spine and corners. 250 pages and 1 ad. The hinges are starting to crack. The endpapers and pastedowns are slightly soiled and there is a previous owner's name penned on the front blank. A good copy. <p>First American edition of these informal lectures on the subject of ethics which Ruskin had the opportunity to deliver, within the give and take of answering questions, at a girls' school in the country. Ruskin playfully alludes to mineralogy as a means of linking together the diverse themes.
