Geoffrey Cumberlege / Oxford University Press, Oxford, 1949. First Paperback Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/Poor. Note on books and index. Dark tan coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured embossed titles to the front panel and a back strip. Plaintext dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. Quoting from the front fold over dustwrapper blurb " ... The author's purpose in this book is to state and distinguished from one another the most important of the differing views which I held on some fundamental ethical questions, and in particular to consider whether any characteristic belongs in common to all 'good' things and all 'right' actions." Softening and rubbing to the back strip edges, which also show loss of colour, due to loss of dustwrapper. Some rubbing and fraying of the book corners. Flecking of the book edges and there is moisture damage to the front edge of the front and rear panels. Light tanning and some foxing of the text block edges. Offset tanning and faint foxing to the end pages; with, a little age toning of the pages with a very occasional foxing spot. The dustwrapper is in terrible shape – please see photograph. Pieces missing from the top right-hand corner of the front panel, the lower 3 inches of the front panel, the lower quarter inch of the back strip and pieces from the top edge of the rear panel and to the left-hand edge of the rear panel. Creasing, browning and small tears to what's left of the dustwrapper edges. Fading and staining to the back strip with something to the rear panel. Browning and foxing to the verso.
