Spine of dust jacket states: 31st printing. Includes 18 black and white photographic illustration plates and fold-out chart. Blue full cloth binding with gilt stamped titles on front and spine. Covers show spots of dampstaining on front, back, joints, and spine. Gilt is bright. Tail of spine shows some edgewear. Lightly bumped corners. Dust jacket shows dampstaining to lower corner on front. Dust jacket shows heavy age tanning with significant chipping and creases to joints, turns, and edges. 2" closed tear to top of back turn. Top edge of textblock stained blue. Dampstaining to fore edge and bottom edge. All edges show age tanning and some light scratches. Endpapers show age tanning, paste action, and spots of foxing. Heavy staining to verso of half-title page. Offsetting from frontispiece to title page. Hinges sound. Binding loose in a few spots but intact. Pages show age tanning and dampstaining to lower corners of some pages. Slight bend to lower corners of pages that starts halfway through the textblock and continues through the end. Small section of pages show creases and 1/2" tear to bottom edge. All plates are present. 2" closed tear to fold-out chart. 740 pages. 6-1/4 X 9-1/4.
