Boston: Phillips, Sampson & Company, 1850. Hard Cover. Good binding. Octavo. Vol I: xxvi, 492; II: xxiv, 588 pp., plates. Third edition, with additions. In publisher's embossed cloth with title in gold on the spine. Cloth is soiled with some fading suggesting moisture exposure; bindings are fairly solid; soiling to the endpapers; top corner of both title pages and the front free endpaper of Volume II has been torn off, likely removing a previous owner name which remains on the front free endpaper of Volume I. Ten engraved plates as called for, five in each volume; scattered in-text woodcuts. While this set has its issues, it is largely a solid, complete set of this edition.
