London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1936. Hardcover. Very good/good+. First popular edition, containing only the narrative. 299 pp, with index, illustrations, folding map. Mild spine lean, corners lightly bumped, gift inscription dated 1937 on front free endpaper. Binding tight, text clean. Dust jacket (illustrated by Bib Pares) is price-clipped and has chips and tears at the spine ends. Account of the 1933 British expedition to Everest, led by Ruttledge, which reached about 28,120 feet, but failed to make the summit.
