Akron, OH: The Werner Co.. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. No date given, but appears c. 1900. Sage green cloth covered boards with lightly rubbed gilt lettering and art nouveau decoration to spines, and owls stamped in blind to fronts. Chipping and small tears to spine ends; 2 3/4" and 1/2" splits to cloth along front joint of vol 2 have been partially repaired with ph-neutral glue. Front board of same vol vertically creased. Light sunning to spines and board edges. Overall mild soil. Bindings somewhat shaken, hinges starting. Text clean. Interiors lightly toned. Illustrated with b/w engravings, plus plates in both color and b/w. No previous owner names or stickers. Small bookshop stamps to rear pastedowns. Not ex-library.
