About This Item

New York: Grossman Publishers, 1968. First Edition, Sixth Printing. Hardcover in red cloth. Very Good/Good. A lovely book about the naming of groups - something that we pay little attention to now, but in medieval times this was part of the curriculum from young men learning of the hunt.

Lipton, the longtime host of Inside the Actor's Studio, reminds us of some of the long known names for groups of things, then adds some of his own for modern times - "a slouch of models" for instance.

Book is very good in a like dust jacket. Jacket wear is an issue on these books due to a thin paper jacket. This one has some tears to the top edge, is toned, but is very good otherwise. Its a cool book by a great talent. Lipton died in 2020 at the age of 93.

Attention bookseller label aficionados, includes a cool bookseller label on front pastedown from Claitor's of Baton Rouge, LA.

Book will ship in a new Brodart cover.

About Librariana Fine Books

We believe that a library is much more than a room or a space. A library is a place to work, rest, love, think and dream. It is the heart of the home.

Our mission is to help individuals, families and organizations furnish their bookspaces in a way that reflects their personality and values.

Beginning with fine books, and extending to other "librariana" - art, antiques and collectibles that make a space a library. We also repair books, and consult with home owners, organizations and bookstore owners looking to make their bookspaces into purposeful sanctuaries.

Whether your bookspace is a corner shelf in a bedroom, or a grand corporate space for meetings and work, Librariana can help "improve your library".
