New York: Harper & Brothers, 1961. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue and grey cloth with gilt spine lettering. xiv, 171pp. Very good. Spine faintly sunned, else tight and internally fine. Attractive later printing of Gardner's first book, bearing huge inscription and signature in blue ballpoint on front flyleaf: "To Robert Malott / with my best wishes / John W Gardner." Gardner (1912-2002) was an educator who served as Lyndon Johnson's Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare. Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist.
