About This Item
IDB Productions, 2017-01-01. MP3 CD. New. Experiments and Observations on Different Kinds of Air contains six volumes issued by the 18th century English polymath Joseph Priestley which documents a run of his tests on "airs" or vapors, much especially his exploration of oxygen gas which he termed "dephlogisticated air".

These tests aided to rescind the final traces of the theory of four essential features; as one of the first biographers states: "taken collectively, [Priestley] did more than those of any one of his contemporaries to uproot and destroy the only generalisation by which his immediate predecessors had sought to group and connect the phenomena of chemistry", yet "he was wholly unable to perceive this fact."
