Yale University Press, 1920. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. photos. 8vo, 260 pages, worn boards. & cloth, spine cut repaired, tight; lacks glassine dj. Xmas inscription in 1945 to Major Charles A. LaSalle, who is listed in the Appendix, p. 258, as a member of the Quartermaster Corps in WWI, in the Administration Roster of Officers On Duty at the Third Aviation Instruction Centre, A.E.F., November 24, 1918.
Bingham was a South American explorer, the discoverer of Macchu Picchu, who became a Colonel in the U.S. Air Corps in WWI, and was Chief of Air Service in the A. E. F. It concerns flight training and future, in addition to a discussion of his two years in the States and in France. Extensively illustrated with photogravures, including the aeroplane assembling competitions!

Joyce And Company has been in business as a professional rare bookseller and appraiser since 1975. Owner Thomas Joyce was the regular book appraiser on Home & Garden TV\'s \"The Appraisal Fair\\\" program, on international broadcasts. Thomas Joyce was the co-discoverer of George Washington's personal copy of William Leybourn's 1679 edition of THE COMPLEAT SURVEYOR, from which young Washington learned some of his surveying skills at age 16. The book had vanished for nearly a century until its re-discovery in 2017. It is now back at Mt. Vernon.
