London: Whittaker and Company, 1838. Covers are very lightly worn at corners, with some light spotting. See photos. Covers with French fillet gilt borders. Spine elaborately designed in floral patterns, with six panels and red leather spine label. Top edge gilt. Book-plate of Reginjald Bernhard Loder on front paste-down. He lived from 1864-1931 and served as High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire. A note from the British Field Sports Society laid-in with a brief biography of the author. The book was bound by Riviere and Sons (signed binding). Collated complete with six plates, two of which are fold-out plans, sepia-tone frontispiece. There are also five engraved chapter heads. 230pp. with 16pp. of advertisements at the conclusion. Errata slip is tipped-in. Thomas Smith (1790-1878) was Master of Hounds at Craven and Hambleton. Riding his famous horse, The General, he was renowned as feerless and inexhaustible in the Hunt.. First Edition. Full Butterscotch Smooth Calf. Minor Wear and Soiling Only/No Dust Jacket.
