Original green cloth on boards. No writing. Light tanning to first free endpaper. Short stories from Pasquotank River and other parts of North Carolina. Frontispiece with tissue guard. Pool, 1860-1928, was accidentally dropped as a small child, causing a disfigurement which prevented her attending university. Her prominent family saw that she was educated at a local school. She was well-known as a storyteller, and supplied words to songs written by a relative. This was her first book. 108 pp. plus several ads..
