Small rubber stamp of Fiot, Meignens Co. Phila. at bottom of title page. Lithograph by N. Currier, No. 1 Wall. St., NY, of a seated woman playing a lyre, another playing a lute, and four other figures, part of a full-page advertisement for a piano forte & music store, James L. Hewitt & Co., Music Publishers, Park Place House 239, Broadway, New York. Text soiled and foxed, hole in front endpaper, corner torn away on front flyleaf, tear and wear to edge of title page, lower corner torn away for page 25, affecting a few notes, a few other short, closed tears at margins. [see: John W. Wagner's article "The Music of James Hewitt: A Supplement to the Sonneck-Upton and Wolfe Bibliographies," for Hewitt, for whom Nathaniel Currier, extremely early in his lithographic career, prepared this advertisement. Currier was at 1 Wall. St. only in the 1835-6 directory; Hewitt was at 137 Broadway between 1830 and 1835, and at 239 Broadway between 1836 and 1843, according to AAS].
