Good on the outside, with title barely visible stamped on spine, 2mm bumps and loss head and foot of spine, not affecting the binding, VG inside, Front hinge tender though binding is tight. See pics. William Bayley's signature and coat of arms (pic) on paste-down. Toning (browning) at endpapers only. Gilt gone from spine but fleur de lys giltwork along edge of boards still beautiful. Intro: xxii, 345 [346 - 370 Index], contemporary (1755) calf. Thanks to John Gach who points out that this was the first edition to be published in Edinburgh.

About Station North Books

I grade conservatively, personally inspecting all the books and trying to describe their condition so you have no surprises. I aim to underpromise and overdeliver. My best feedback is the (more than) one that says, "Better than described!" I have been collecting books for years and sharing story and ideas as an English teacher since 1987. Ned at NedSparrow.com
