London: David Nutt, 1889. First Edition. Paperback. Very Good. Limited to 550 copies. Complete in two volumes, housed in a custom clamshell box. Presentation copy stamped "With the Author's and Publisher's Compliments" on the front endpaper of each volume. Very Good. Wraps toned, bumped at the corners and edges. Square and firmly bound, one of the front flyleaves loose in Volume I, some foxing to the preliminaries, clean otherwise. A literary rather than typographical reprint of Caxton's first English edition of Aesop's classic fables.
