Featuring 68 fables told in rhyming verse, these satirical pieces take aim at the politics and society of Gay's time yet the targets and themes remain relevant today. Quarter leather with marbled boards. 32mo. (130x85mm) 155pp. With engraved frontispiece by Richard Westall. Boards are worn and bumped. Leather spine is rubbed. Occasional light foxing within. Previous owner's signature to rear endpaper. Title page a little slack but otherwise tightly bound. Fair/good.
