London, England: A. Bettsworth and C. Hitch, and C. Davis, 1734. Hardcover. Good. First edition in English (French, 1668). This copy in original full leather binding. Both boards are detached, and spine is split down the middle. Boards rubbed and worn at edges. Leather fused to spine, hence the split. Text is very good, with light foxing to edges of title, and rear end paper. Some light tanning page edges. Paper is supple and type clear, ready for new fine binding. Front endpaper is missing. Octavo. xxvi(6)293(1)pp. A milestone in the history of fables. First appearance in English of the "Fables Selectes" of La Fontaine.
