A near fine copy in red cloth, gilt titles to the spine oxidized in a bright, fresh pictorial dustwrapper. Brenan and his wife, American poet Gamel Woolsey returned to Spain in 1949 thirteeen years after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. An exceptional account of Brenan's return to Spain gleaned from his daily journals while travelling in Spain. "A brilliant interpreter of Spain to the rest of the world". The Times.
