Book measures 165mm x 105mm approximately.
Nicely bound in full darker tan calf. Spine with five raised gilt-ruled bands and gilt-boxed maroon title / author label. Single gilt fillet border to both boards with further triple fillet gilt-boxed panel with elaborate cornices. Engraving to title page verso plus a number of further full-page engravings.
CONDITION
In overall good condition with binding holding firm. Some signs of early-stage cracking to upper hinges, and a slight crease along spine length. Boards have a few minor scuffs, partial ring stain mark to front, light surface scratches, with moderate bumping to corners. Neat ink inscription to front end-paper by the Rector of Stamford (dated 1851).
Internally the pages are clean throughout with uniform age toning and browning. Some light staining to upper corners of first 20 pages, and light marginal shadowing to end-papers.

Josiah Woodward (1657 to 1712) was an English Church of England clergyman and moral reformer.[ He was a devout Anglican and his advocacy of stringent adherence to Christian moral ethic is evident in the vast majority of his works.
