London: Longmans, Green, 1908. Hardcover. Very Good. Octavo hardcover in midnight green cloth lettered and decorated in gilt with three dancing fiigures on the front cloth. All edges gilt. lv+ 366 pp. With illustrations by Lancelot Speed as well as with musical quotations. Stated "New Impression" . Very good, some wear at the extremities but all gilt bright. Endpapers toned and small ownership signature front free endpaper, some light spotting to the rear cloth. One of the most beloved and sought after books of its kind, A collection of fourteen plays to be acted by children, based on fairy tales. Includes such as "Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves", "Rumplestiltzkin", "Red Riding Hood", "Cinderella", "The Sleeping Beauty" and others. Each play is prefaced by a cast list and costume descriptions and contains a set diagram and short songs with music and lyrics. The extensive introductory section provides general instruction on such as direction, staging, lighting, etc. and illustrated directions for dances.
