London, George G. Harrap and Co. Ltd., 1932. [Fairy tales] FIRST RACKHAM EDITION, SIGNED LIMITED deluxe issue. Large octavo (26 x 19cm), pp.288. SIGNED by Rackham to the limitation page. With twelve full-page coloured plates with tissue guards and many full page and in-text black and white illustrations. Publisher's gilt-stamped parchment over boards, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, silhouette endpapers. With what appears to be the original clear acetate jacket. A lovely fine copy, inside and out. With original lot ticket from a previous sale loosely inserted (Christie's, London 9th July 2002, £1765). A timeless collection of fairy stories wonderfully illustrated by Rackham, including The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, The Tinder-Box, Thumbelina, The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, and many more.
