A most attractive First Edition copy of this collection of stories and essays by the writer best known for his travel writings and his ghost stories. Some of the tales in this volume are of both genres -- e.g., "The Vision of the Dead Creole". With title-page printed in blue and white; printed on laid paper watermarked "British Hand Made". Tan cloth over blue laid paper-covered boards, with a blue paper label on the spine printed in gold. At the colophon, #400 of 550 copies. Some minor wear to the corners, and some very slight rubbing to the boards, but a clean and tight copy. (BAL 7955). Very Good+ binding.
