New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1969. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/very good. First edition of Fat City by Leonard Gardner.. Octavo, 183pp. Gray boards with orange cloth spine, title stamped in black on spine. Top edge stained black. Yellow endpapers. Stated "First printing, 1969" on copyright page. Toning along top and bottom edges of boards, bottom edge of back cover lightly rubbed. Clean text with no marks or notations. In publisher's original illustrated dust jacket, retail price of $5.50 on front flap, light foxing to interior, spine ends rubbed, light soiling to front panel, sunning to spine, handwritten notation in blue ink on front flap. A bright example. While Fat City is the author's first and only novel, it has become a classic of boxing fiction. In 1972, the book was made into a movie of the same name, directed by John Huston and starring Stacy Keach and Jeff Bridges.
