The uncommon first appearance of pilot and aviation writer Ernest K. Gann's memoir, which vaguely inspired a 1964 aviation disaster film by the same name. The Chicago Tribune once called it "A splendid and many-faceted personal memoir that is not only one man's story but the story, in essence, of all men who fly.
Reviews
On May 9 2014, a reader said:
Ernest K. Gann has written about his experiences as a commercial pilot before the second World War and during. It's an eye opening experience for any one who loves more background into a pilot's life and harrowing experiences in flight. His writing has been adapted for major movies. Strap on your helmet and take a flight with Ernest and you'll see what I mean.
