An account of the remarkable expedition of French navigator M. de Surville's voyage of Pacific exploration that saw him off the coast of Northland in 1769 at the same moment as Cook, though the two ships passed out of sight of each other. Noted New Zealand historian this was published just before he set up his John Dunmore Press. CONDITION Blue leather look binding, printed on lovely crea m wove paper stock and hand set type that Pegasus Press is noted for, Map eps, 127 pages with plate illus including New Zealand artifacts and Maori taken from sketches produced on the expedition. Bright clean interior with toned eps, DJ has faded spine and light edge wear. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
