Meridian, Mississippi: Press of Tell Farmer, (1927). First Edition<br/> <br/> Signed by the author. Biography of Rev. Thomas C. Stuart and the Monroe Mission. Stuart and his wife were the first Presbyterians to settle in Northern Mississippi. He was appointed to found the Monroe Mission by the Missionary Society of the Synod of South Carolina and Georgia and arrived in Mississippi in January of 1821. Included in the text are early records of the names of members of the congregation who were baptized or who had died. Some of the those listed are identified as African-Americans. Also included in the text are session records of the Church at Monroe by Rev. Thomas Stuart as well as eight printed letters by him detailing his missionary activities to the Chickasaw Indians.<br/> <br/>
