New edition of The Federalist Papers. 496pp. Bound in full calf, neatly rebacked with morocco title label reading simply "Federalist," lettered and ruled in gilt, new endpapers. Light wear and discoloration to calf, stain on rear board, contents Near Fine and bright, offsetting to endpapers.

A mid 19th century edition of the classic series of essays, most of which were originally published in New York newspapers under the pseudonym "Publius." These essays came to define key facets of the young American republic, arguing for stronger national government, more harmonious relations with England, and the importance of interstate and international commerce. Today they are considered one of the most important sources for interpreting and understanding the original intent of the Constitution.

Front free endpaper is loose but included. Front pastedown has an old personalized bookplate attached with same name written on the front free endpaper, top edge of the front pastedown has written,"Bought from J.H. Adams, Feb. 1892". Front endpaper has name written, H.W. Adams 1856. No other marks or notations. Textblock is solid. 1852, New Edition. 496 pp.
