About This Item

Putnam, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. VERY UNCOMMON 1975 FIRST EDITION hardcover with dustjacket. NOT an ex-library book. UNREAD COPY with bright, unmarked, well-bound pages. Jacket is clean with very minor shelf-rubbing only; sharp edges and corners, with no bumps, creases or rips. Very nice copy of a hard-to-find volume. 128 pp. "Ferguson Jenkins is only the fourth player in the last 50 years of major league baseball to win 20 games for six consecutive years. The big right-hander, who was the mainstay of the Chicago Cubs' pitching staff before moving to the Texas Rangers, won success in a low-keyed manner that made him known as 'the quiet winner.' In this absorbing biography, writer Stanley Pashko tells the life story of the descendant of an escaped slave who grew up in Canada and went on to become one of the most respected players of big-time American baseball.
