About This Item
[Philadelphia: Collins, Printer. 1874]. 8 pages. Printed self-wraps with a vignette of the College to the front. Very Good.
Printed in small type and densely filled with the doings of the College. The announcement summarizes the upcoming course of lectures on medical, anatomical, and surgical practice. It also describes training opportunities at nearby hospitals, special clinics (e.g. midwifery, ophthalmic surgery, electro-therapeutics), and both a "Summer Course of Supplementary Lectures" and a "Winter Session."
With a list of the graduates of the Class of 1874, their home states or countries, and the subjects of their theses. Plus regulations of the medical college and a list of recommended medical reference books, almost all of which are by members of Jefferson's faculty or graduates, e.g. Samuel D. Gross, J.M. DaCosta, Richard J. Dunglison, and Joseph Pancoast.
Included with this ephemeral item is a 1-page handbill from 1874 entitled Alumni Association of the Jefferson Medical College which details at length the goals of the association. It signed in type at the end by Richard J. Dunglison, M.D., Corresponding Secretary.
OCLC, as a separate entry, LCP only.
