About This Item

Voyager HarperCollins, 2005 Book. Illus. by Harman, Dominic. Very Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. Hardcover UK, first printing and true first edition. (Precedes the US edition by Bantam.) Very fine (unread) copy in very fine jacket. Not a book club, remainder or ex-library copy. Presentation copy signed by Robinson at the World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim, California and inscribed "Worldcon 2006/Orange County" on the title page. (The addition of the "Orange County" is a pun and homage to Robinson's post-apocalyptic Orange County trilogy, to the Worldcon location in Orange County, California and that Robinson is originally from Orange County, California. A neat presentation copy.) The second novel in the Capital Code trilogy, preceded by Forty Signs of Rain. A unique copy and nice associational item. Excellent full color, wrap-around jacket illustration by Dominic Harman..

Synopsis

Fifty Degrees Below (2005) is the second book in the hard science fiction Science in the Capital trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. It directly follows the events of Forty Signs of Rain, with a greater focus on character Frank Vanderwal, and his decision to remain at the National Science Foundation, following the earlier novel’s superstorm and devastating flood of Washington DC.
