Pictorial red cloth, 241 pp., plus three pages of advertisements, preface, frontispiece, numerous illustrations from old photographs. Brininstool's classic account of The Fetterman Massacre, The Wagon Box Fight, The Battle of Beecher Island, and The Buffalo Wallow Fight. "There is a long chapter on Calamity Jane in which the author quotes her autobiography in full,..."--Ramon Adams. This is volume 2 of "The Frontier Series." Inscribed on the front free fly leaf: "In memory of the visit of Flying Hawk one of the last of the Red Cloud Warriors. Entertained by him at Olean, N. Y. June 28/26 now 71 yrs old. M. J. McCreight." M. J. McCreight wrote a book about Chief Flying Hawk in 1926. A few light penciled notations in the margins not affecting the text, lightly foxed, covers lightly rubbed, else a very good copy.
