About This Item

New York: The Viking Press, 1943. "For many years the need of a further book on the subject of figure drawing has been apparent to me. I have waited for such a book to appear which could be recommended to the many young artists with whom I have come in contact. Finally, I have come to the realization that such a book, regardless of one's ability as an author, could be written only by a man actually in the field of commercial art, who in his experience has met and countered with the actual problems that must be clarified." 204 pp. Blue cloth cover with drawn image of nude woman on front in yellow, title lettering in yellow on spine. Missing DJ. Cover corners are bumped and rubbed to boards, edges faded and rubbed with some dents, minor soiling to cover faces, spine is discolored from sun exposure, spine ends are fraying and torn. Hinges on endpapers are brown and discolored, some dirt smudges to endpapers. Front hinge loose. Number stamp on back free endpaper. Interior pages lightly browning along edges, otherwise tight and clean. Book in VG- condition. Scarce true first edition.. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good-/No Jacket. Illus. by Illustrated, Drawings. Size: Approx. 9" X 12 1/4". Art.
