NY: F.J. Huntington & Co, 1838. First. Cloth. First edition. Blindstamped brown cloth with spine lettering gilt. 396 pps. Treatise on the value of education in children in relation to physical, intellectual and moral development of the young. The author, S.G. Goodrich, was, under the nom-de-plume of Peter Parley, one of the most prolific 19th century producers of books for young people. A tight copy but well sunned about the edges and spine (although the spine gilt is still clear). Shallow loss to spine ends. Scattered foxing throughout. Previous own. sig.on ffep, dated 1854 and with notation that the book was "bought at Rev. J. Hanly's sale, Tuckerton, NJ"
